Simon Taverner
BSc (Hons), Registered Architect NZIA, NZRAB 5029
I am a registered architect with over 20 years of experience in the Queenstown Lakes District, where I have worked across residential, commercial, hospitality, master planning, multi-unit development, and aged care.
From 2010 to 2024 I worked as an Associate at Warren and Mahoney's Queenstown studio, one of New Zealand's leading architectural practices. In that time I led projects across Queenstown and the wider district, ranging from bespoke private residences to large-scale mixed-use developments, commercial buildings, and a major multi-year ski field redevelopment.
I understand this region's planning environment, design review processes, and building and physical constraints; knowledge built up over more than two decades.
In 2025 I established Taverner Architects to allow me to work directly with my Clients. Every project gets my full attention from first conversation to completion.
If you have a project that needs a highly experienced, registered architect with deep local knowledge, get in touch.
I am especially interested in creating warm, comfortable homes that support real lives - spaces that invite you in, offer shelter, and function in their environment year-round. A home should be a place that enhances daily living.
In 2025 I set up Taverner Architects and I am available to undertake design and documentation for both commercial and residential new builds, as well as renovations and alterations, across Queenstown, the wider Lakes District, and beyond. Whether you are planning a high-country retreat, an urban infill, or something in between, I bring a hands-on, collaborative approach from concept through to completion.
If you’re looking for an Architect who brings both experience and attention to detail to the table — someone who understands the local context and values design that is both beautiful and buildable — I would love to hear from you.
