Built in 2017 for my wife, our two young boys, and myself, this home was born from a personal vision—one rooted in warmth, functionality, and the rhythms of family life. As both architect and occupant, I approached the design with a clear priority: to create a home that would feel good to live in, every day, and through every season.
Careful consideration was given to site orientation, insulation, and thermal performance, ensuring the home remains comfortable year-round while being energy efficient and low-maintenance. Every design move—big and small—was about achieving a lasting sense of ease and livability.
Positioned to take in sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, the home is set within an extensive native garden that has evolved alongside our family. The planting provides not just a sense of being surrounded by biodiversity, but also privacy, shelter, and a soft edge that blurs the line between built and natural.
Inside, the spaces are filled with natural light, warm materials, and subtle transitions that support both shared family moments and individual quiet time. It’s a place where our kids can play, explore, and grow.
This home represents a design approach I bring to all my projects: thoughtful, site-specific, and deeply attuned to the people who will live there. It’s a reminder that the most successful homes are the ones that feel right—spaces that support the life within, and around them.
