Designed and built for friends—another young family with two young boys—this home shares a kindred spirit with my own. From the beginning, the vision was clear: to create a warm, light-filled house that offered flexibility for a growing family, while also allowing them to bring their own unique sense of style and identity into the space.
The brief was both practical and deeply personal. They wanted a home that felt fresh and open, where daylight moved freely through the spaces, and where indoor and outdoor living could flow seamlessly—perfect for everything from quiet mornings to chaotic afternoons with kids. With a green-space reserve directly adjacent, the site offered a rare opportunity to connect the home to nature.
We worked closely to shape a design that offered versatility without sacrificing intimacy. Open-plan living areas are balanced with quieter areas; rooms are adaptable to change over time—ready to shift with the family as their needs evolve.
Timeless forms, pitched roofs, and a palette of natural materials anchor the house in its surroundings, while the interiors were left purposefully simple—offering a clean canvas for the family’s own design sensibility to shine. Their eye for interiors brought the house to life in a way that was both personal and harmonious with the architecture.
This home is a celebration of collaboration—between architect, clients, family, and place. It reflects a design approach that is flexible, responsive, and grounded in real life.
