Brown, Queenstown

About the Project

The Brown Residence is a compact, contemporary home at Jacks Point, making the most of a tight site accessed from a private laneway.

The brief called for a generous family home on a tight footprint; three bedrooms, open family living, designed to feel larger than its footprint. The living spaces sit beneath a high skillion ceiling that follows the gable form, creating a sense of volume and light.

Siting and orientation were considered from the outset. The house is positioned to capture the sun and views while bunding and landscaping provide privacy from neighbouring development.

The design meets the Jacks Point design guidelines while maintaining a clean, contemporary character throughout.

Project Details

  • “From the very first meeting, Simon made a genuine effort to understand how we wanted our home to live, move, and feel on a daily basis. He transformed our ideas into a design that was both beautiful and practical to our everyday living needs. Simon’s attention to detail, creative vision, and in depth knowledge of the building process gave us complete confidence throughout the project. His understanding of the resident society requirements, rules, and covenants proved invaluable, ensuring that the design met all obligations without compromising on aesthetics or functionality. This also made the approval / consenting process fast and without complications. Communication was consistently clear, open, and professional from start to finish. Simon worked seamlessly with builders and consultants, approaching the project holistically and recognising that a true 360 degree collaboration was essential to achieving a smooth and successful build.”
