Farmhouse Cafe, Hanleys Farm
About the Project
Designed as a local café and social hub for the growing Hanleys Farm community, this project needed to balance warmth and character with efficiency, durability, and a tight construction budget. Delivered as Project Architect at Warren and Mahoney, the building forms a small but important anchor within the neighbourhood.
The design draws on simple rural forms, using a gabled structure and expressed timber portals to create a clear and recognisable identity. Internally, the structure brings rhythm and warmth to the space, while supporting a straightforward and functional layout suited to daily use.
Working within budget constraints, materials were carefully selected for robustness and cost efficiency. Galvanised corrugate cladding provides a durable exterior.
The result is a well-used and enduring community space that feels informal but considered, designed to support everyday use while maintaining a strong architectural presence.
