Set within the carefully controlled design environment of Millbrook, this home was created for a couple whose lives are centred around family—children and grandchildren. The brief called for a home that felt generous and gracious, yet remained warm, welcoming, and comfortably scaled for everyday life.
With tight architectural guidelines to navigate, the design response focused on simplicity, proportion, and connection to place. A series of pavilion-style forms define the structure, subtly separating living areas while maintaining a strong sense of flow and openness. These forms are linked by a series of transitional spaces and outdoor rooms, allowing the owners to enjoy different parts of the home and garden as the seasons change.
Although the footprint is generous, every space is carefully scaled to feel human and lived-in. The architecture invites both intimacy and openness—whether it's quiet evenings by the fire or lively family gatherings spilling out into the landscape.
Materially, the home speaks to longevity and quiet refinement. Solid oak, natural stone, board finish concrete and carefully considered finishes offer a sense of permanence without excess. The design is stylish and understated—simple but never bland, with a tactile richness that reveals itself over time.
This home is a place designed to live in—deeply and comfortably—for many years to come.
